| Welcome to the New ALERT IIS Information Page |
| The Oregon Immunization Program is proud to announce the arrival of the new ALERT Immunization Information System, or ALERT IIS. In 2010, the statewide ALERT registry system merged with IRIS, the immunization records system in use in most local health departments , to create ALERT IIS. The new system began rolling out to users in late 2010; full roll-out should be complete for all users by the end of 2011. ALERT IIS offers many new features that will save time and provide valuable information in clinical and school settings; if you are an authorized user and haven't yet transitioned to the new system, click the training link below. For more information, contact the ALERT Help Desk at 800-980-9431. |

September 29, 2011 — Changes in the look of immunization records on www.immalert.org The ALERT Immunization Registry has transitioned to a new system. The new ALERT Immunization Information System (IIS), now sends data to the previous website, www.immalert.org, while we transition our final user groups over to the new ALERT IIS at www.alertiis.org. This is one more step toward completing the transition to the new ALERT system. Because of this change, there are differences in the look of patient immunization records. If you work in a clinic and have not been trained on the new ALERT IIS, we recommend that you do so and start using the new system as soon as possible. Access to the www.immalert.org website for clinic users will be terminated in the coming months as users complete the transition to the new website. Here are some of the differences you may notice:
The new ALERT IIS provides significant advantages over the previous static web system: data is more timely and detailed, and clinical users can interact with the data through entry, corrections and reports far more easily than ever before. We encourage you to get trained as soon as possible on the new ALERT IIS. To register for training or watch on-demand videos, go to www.immalert.org/NEW_ALERT_IIS/training_and_support.asp. Questions? Contact the ALERT Help Desk at 800-980-9431 or alertiis@state.or.us. August 26, 2011 — Funding Opportunity for e-transfer Partners DEADLINE Extended! New deadline for grant proposals is October 21, 2011 Oregon ALERT is pleased to announce a new funding opportunity. Through a grant from the CDC, the Oregon Immunization Program is offering small grants (up to $35,000) for partners that wish to enhance their EHR-IIS interoperability with ALERT IIS. Eligible organizations must already be using an electronic health record for data exchange with ALERT IIS. Funds may be used for development and implementation of enhancements that move the organization from flat file data exchange to HL7 data exchange (either real time or batch) or from HL7 batch to HL7 real time. Interested parties are encouraged to apply early, as proposals will be reviewed and approved as received. The request for grant proposals can be downloaded through the link at the bottom of this web page. If you have questions, please email Tracy Little at tracy.c.little@state.or.us. August 15, 2011 — Final Transition Date to new ALERT IIS (barcode/paper submitters only) It is time for all organizations that submit data to ALERT via barcode or paper submissions to transition to the new ALERT IIS. Users who are currently searching for immunization records on the old system (www.immalert.org) must be trained on the new ALERT IIS (www.alertiis.org) by Aug. 15, 2011.
Note: If your organization submits data to ALERT IIS via electronic data transfer, you will continue to have access to search immunization histories on the old website (www.immalert.org) until the end of September. If you are have questions or concerns, or need to request an extension for submitting barcodes or paper forms, please contact the ALERT IIS Help Desk at 800-980-9431 or alertiis@state.or.us. July 29, 2011 — Web Service Functionality Live and Expanding: A big thanks to our first wave of health systems and organizations that are actively using the ALERT IIS bi-directional web service. This interface allows sites to electronically send data to ALERT from their Electronic Health Record (EHR), while also querying ALERT in real-time for additional shots and forecasts due and past due for their patients. The following sites are now live with this interface, while others are in the final stages of testing for the exchange:
If you are interested in learning more about real-time data exchange with ALERT IIS, contact Tracy Little at 971-673-0304, or contact the ALERT Help Desk at 800-980-9431 or alertiis@state.or.us. |
| Online Tools: |
The ALERT IIS is completely web-based, and online entry will replace much of the current paper submission for ALERT. Current users will notice that the online screens look different. Many new functions are built into the system. You will still be able to access immunization records quickly online, but users will also be able to:
|
| Electronic Transfer: |
| Users with electronic medical records (EMRs) will also be able to set up or continue data transfers with ALERT IIS, submitting immunization data and receiving back additional data on their patients, as well as forecasts for immunizations due and past due. Electronic interfaces will meet many clinics’ objectives for “meaningful use” of EMR data for Health Information Exchange (HIE) goals. |
| Security and Privacy: |
| As always, ALERT IIS is committed to maintaining strict security and confidentiality protocols. The only users who have access to a patient’s information are those who are defined in statute with a need for the information. For example, a school is allowed to access only its students’ records; a clinic is allowed to access records only for its patients. |
